Mimi
Seton, aka Bhavani Marga, is a songwriter, composer, and vocalist,
she began her career as an “actress-who-sings”
at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and played over 50 roles
in Theatre from the classical, modern and experimental canons
~ both in the US and Europe, where she lived for 14 years.
She began creating original musical events
in 1980 while living in L.A. These earned a dozen press
awards, most notably for originality, and for her capacity
to write in a wide variety of styles. She has also written
commissions for film, theatre, cabaret acts and recordings.
Drawn to Asian philosophies and meditation,
she recently returned from studying the yoga of chant with
Hindustani music master, Sri Hanuman, who has entrusted
her to teach his approach.
Since 1980, she has been a devoted teacher
to students of all ages and levels. Her courses include:
Song Performance, Acting, and Writing from Your Own Life.
She has taught in schools, theatres, arts collectives, prisons,
and universities including: Trinity College Dublin and University
of Paris. The psychological focus is to liberate students
from fear, so their creative Self can come forth and
play with joy. During a short venture into becoming
a therapist, she realized she was teaching what she herself
yearns to learn: the ability to be fully Present moment
to moment.
Currently, Mimi is composing a collection
of cabaret songs in French, addressing challenges that face
women and girls in particular, and creating CDs of
quiet music, employing Indian elements to design a modest
ambient background for yoga, meditation and contemplation.
